This is my third pair of Kobe 9 Elite. The high-top design offers great protection for the Achilles and ankles, but compared to other Kobe low-top models, it sacrifices some flexibility and that ultra-close-to-the-ground feel. These shoes are better suited for heavier players who prioritize protection, especially forwards. The carbon fiber plate on the side provides solid support but does limit foot movement a bit and can feel a little intrusive. The cushioning doesn't use Zoom Air, so the responsiveness isn't as explosive or aggressive. The traction is solid for indoor courts, but I wouldn't recommend using them extensively outdoors.
